Power Gain
The grade of success/failure for battles can be measured in power gain. One sums up the total power of all units the enemy lost and subtracts the total power of all own lost units. The higher the resulting number, the better the battle went. A superior commander always tries to aim for battles with the highest power gain possible.
Example:
- Player A's casualties are 1 trooper, 1 tank and 1 bomber (total power of 1 + 2 + 3 = 6).
- Player B's casualties are 1 trooper and 1 bomber (total power 1 + 3 = 4).
The battle was a success for player B with a power gain of 2.
Squad Counters
Any unit combination that beats another unit combination (of equal, one lower or one higher power) reliably and with a non-negative power gain, is considered a counter to this other unit combination.
You can read the counter table in the following way: squad vs counter squad => result => power gain.
Here are some of the more important counters.
In Plains
| Squad | Counter Squad | Result | Power Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| | | | 3 |
| | | | 2 |
| | | | 2 |
| | | | 1 |
| | | | 2 |
| | | | 0 |
| | | | 2 |
In Mountains
| Squad | Counter Squad | Result | Power Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| | | | 3 |
| | | | 2 |
| | | | 1 |
| | | | 3 |
| | | | 1 |
| | | | 3 |
| | | | 2 |
These counters work if the counter squad flanks a non-flanking enemy squad.
Flanking in Plains
| Squad | Counter Squad | Result | Power Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| | | | 1 |
| | | | 2 |
| | | | 2 |
| | | | 2 |

Flanking in Mountains
| Squad | Counter Squad | Result | Power Gain |

Miscellaneous
An interesting matchup:

|---|---|---|---|
| | | | -1 |
This is valid in both plains and mountains.
